"Having stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years, there seems to be a decline in the general condition. " (108051838)

General state of the hotel was clean and welcoming

Check in at the hotel was sorted out efficiently considering they had not received the booking from Active Hotels, for the second weekend running we had to change rooms due to faulty blinds and lack of curtains at the windows.

Everything about the hotel was very clean, Staff were helpful.

The first room we were given the window blind would not open, the second room we were given the blind worked with difficulty but there were no curtain fitted at the windows

"See my comments above. The hotel is I would say among the best that is on offer around Calais." (97249384)

The Camponile is in a quiet part of Calais away from all the main roads. It is ideal for when you are on a shopping trip and on limited time to carry out all that is needed. We went to the dock area and sat watching the cross channel ferries arriving and leaving. We then found the best restaurant that I have eaten in for ages and definietly comparable to 15 and the Waterside at Bray. The restaurant is La Grand Blue.

Someone had been smoking in the lobby area of my room and the ashtray still had three cigarette butts in it.

"Haven't stayed in a Campanile for some years but recall them being good value stopover hotels in the past. I was totally satisfied with the location of the hotel, the service for our very brief visit, and the bed was extremely comfortable! However, I do think the price wasn't as good value as I've experienced in the past and we did stay in a tourist town much further south the following night and paid slightly less for a better room and location, much to my surprise! I would recommend this hotel however, and am likely to use it again when getting the late Eurotunnel crossing as it's convenient for an early start to the following day." (97528381)

Convenient location just a few minutes from the Eurotunnel terminal

Secure, knowing that the room was always accessible to us.The staff were always available.

Good beds, good food at reasonable price, coffee making equipment, good parking, and good English spoken.

One of the two heaters not working, and one of the bedside lights missing. Also, television too close to kettle making it difficult to use.

"We had the Campanil booklet and found the information contained in it was easy to follow. When arriving in the location it was quite easy to find the hotel. Not perfect, mind!! It was rather good for us to find that the staff spoke a little English. If they didn't they were very helpful and we managed well. One of the most welcome things was the tea making facility. After a long journey to be able to make a drink is very good." (99158486)

Rather musty sort of smell in room and hand basin very slow indeed to empty.

Adequate for an over night stop, with good attention from the staff. Resturant and food in excess of what we expected, i.e. very good

Caiais room one is a disabled room, no problem with that, except the bath is a knee bath and not quite adequate for an ageing motorcyclist to get into for a hot soak after a long ride/drive. Not any ones fault as no one is to know what means of transport visitors are using, but might be an op[tion on the booking form, which could also offer (possibly) more secure parking for motor cycles. I do not know how many Bikers you have visiting a year, but we are all very security concious, as it only take a couple of people with van to steal a motorbike. Ground achors are one possibilty but probably not that practical in a general car psrk facility. Some thing else ou might look into; many people are now using sat navs, and finding places abroad without a given post code or map co-ordinates is difficult. This I have found to be the case on several occasions in France as when you enter a town name, there are always several options, and very little way of knowing which and where each one is.

Air conditioning was faulty. This was soon rectified when I pointed out that the Cold setting was not working. We also found the bath tap/shower switch to be broken but we didn't complain as we were able to fill the bath.

I regard budget hotels as being just barely adequate i.e. they have everything but at a just acceptable level. This was better. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We did not have dinner." (99855444)

It was a bit of a walk from reception and up stairs.

"Nothing in particular, we had directions and found the placfairly easily. Very pleasant. We booked dinner as it was a holiday and we arrived in the early evening. We were given a time for dinner but even so we had to wait a long time for a table and for service. The staff were extremely sorry for this and very pleasant to deal with, and it didn't really worry us too much, except that we were very hungry by the time we were served. We were especially pleased with the tea/coffee making facilities, and the 3 English TV channels available." (99707321)

It equalled the food in Campanile in the suburbs of Amsterdam and in the associated restaurant in Rouen (these were some years ago). The wine of the month was very good. The Manager was both proper and charming and everyone was kind and helpful. My husband and I (60+), my mother (84 years) and my granddaughter( 17 years) had a very good afternoon and evening."
