Loved my stay in Wigan! This town is a hidden gem with its charming atmosphere, friendly locals, and a perfect blend of modern amenities and historical charm. From the picturesque parks to the vibrant local culture, Wigan has something for everyone. The welcoming community and the rich history make it a must-visit destination. Can't wait to return and explore more of this amazing town!

Wigan has always been a decent night out, we had arrived a little bit too late to go out into the city centre, so we decided to just get our head down and have an early-ish night, getting into the room, I noticed that somebody had been sick quite recently on the carpet of the room we were staying in as it still hadn’t been cleaned up, I would definitely think about not staying in that accommodation like this again

The place I lived in for the first 30 years of my life till 41 years ago is a depressing town to walk around that is losing its character to yet another go at modern development. Too many derelict shuttered buildings. The only town with a bypass that runs through the centre of it!

Wigan is under redevelopment at present, a reaction I suppose to the changing shopping habits of people. The town is no better or worse than many others I visit, but it does look like Wigan has taken action to reintroduce housing to the town centre which should bring with it a shopping and eating revival. My access to restaurants was limited as I arrived on a Tuesday. I was recommended a particular restaurant as being one of the best in the town. It was fine and the staff were wonderful, but I wasn't told when I booked (in person) that the only option was the pre-fixe menu, the a la carte wasn't available on Tuesday. I was there to meet with friends so the overall ambience of the town was less important, but I feel that Wigan is a town that isn't there yet but is trying to get there and will be a great place to visit when the redevelopment is complete.

We stayed in room 26 and the people in the room above were noisy all night - had no sleep so checked out at 5.30am - reported noise to night porter he said they’d been in and out all night have cigarettes. He said he’s done a walk about check at 5am and he could hear them being noisy but did nothing about it - had a 4 hour drive after having no sleep - I would request a full refund
hotel looked nice on pictures, communal check in area and bar wasnt very inviting and we were asked to use the outside back stairs to exit. Room was very tastfully decoarated but there was a strong smell of urine which was offputting. the bar was full of strange men, some who clearly had mental health issues so we had one drink and left. we felt it was expensive for what it was, owner told us its significantly cheaper if booked direct
mine and wife's second stay at this Wetherspoons hotel ,always a good place to stay ,room was clean and comfortable shower was spotless as was all the bathroom plenty of hot water as well ,bed was good got great nights sleep ,the staff are all friendly and helpfull ....meals were good value ,breakfast in the morning set us up for the drive home ...plenty of tea and coffee as always...we will be staying again
The bed was very comfy and the room was clean, food alrightish. The place and the hotel is very very beautiful with beautiful views amd surroundings, just lovely. Very good sauna and steam room, very nice service on spa side and reception, breakfast waitresses also very helpful and very nice.
This was the fourth time we'd stayed at this hotel, and the standards were as high as ever. The place is spotless, the staff are friendly and helpful and there is a good choice of breakfast options. The bathrooms are large, with good showers.
Hotel looked tired. I was put in a room in an alcove next to the entrance and it was very noisy. Unimpressed. Room needed a refurb. Certainly needs downgrading a star. No where near as good as Wrightington Country Club.
Location for Wigan, was good with good bus service close by. Room had all the basic needs for a short stay.Food options on your doorstep.Well known venue for the area.
Pool was lovely.
No obvious towel facility for hotel(although next day staff said it was ok to borrow a towel)
Need £1 for the locker(no prior warning for this)
